(Ventura) – All registered voters can vote in the upcoming June 7, 2016 Presidential Primary Election. However, in order to vote for the presidential candidate of your choice, you must be registered with that presidential candidate’s political party. Voters that are registered with no party preference, formerly known as decline-to-state, have the option to request one of the following party’s presidential ballot:
- Democratic Party
- American Independent Party
- Libertarian Party
Vote by mail voters registered with no party preference were sent a postcard with instructions to select a party ballot. No party preference voters may also select a ballot at their polling place on Election Day. If a ballot is not requested, no party preference voters will be provided with a nonpartisan ballot containing the names of candidates for local nonpartisan offices and measures.
The following political parties have chosen not to allow no party preference voters to request their presidential ballot:
- Republican Party
- Green Party
- Peace & Freedom Party
If no party preference voters want to vote for a presidential candidate in one of these parties, they must be registered with that party no later than May 23, 2016. Voters can register to vote, or change their party registration online at http://venturavote.org.
