If a voter has not voted in any election within the preceding four years, and his or her residence address, name, or party affiliation has not been updated during that time, the county elections official may send a confirmation postcard to the voter's address with a postage-paid and self-addressed return card to enable the voter to verify or correct their address information. (1) If the voter returns the postcard updating their address in Ventura County then their voter registration remains active and the voter will continue to receive voting information by mail. (2) If the postcard is returned indicating the voter is no longer in Ventura County the voter registration will be canceled. (3) If the postcard is not returned within 15 days, the voters registration is placed in inactive status. The voter may have to vote a provisional ballot on election day if they still reside within Ventura County because their name may not appear on a precincts roster of active and inactive voters.
